A new layer of paint will give your house an entirely new look; however, it's possible to make a few mistakes during the process, particularly when painting trims around windows.
When the dried-out paint particles forming on the windows of your home are ruining views, don't be concerned! It's simple to figure out how to clean paint off windows without damaging the glass.
There are many tried and tested methods to get rid of the glass's paint. You will be able to get rid of tiny flecks using white vinegar or hot soapy water. However, larger or more stubborn spots of paint could require the use of a razor blade.
To get the best results, begin with a procedure that softens and releases the paint. Continue to follow the steps until you're able to remove every trace of paint off the window.
Gather the following materials:
Pour about white vinegar (1 cup) into a measuring cup, then microwave it for between 30 and 60 minutes. Wearing gloves to protect your hands, soak a sponge or cloth in hot vinegar. Saturate the spots of paint, then apply elbow grease to release. The vinegar won't completely remove the spots; however, it will soften the spots. (Avoid using dish scrubbers with abrasive edges or sharp steel wool, which could damage the glass.)
If the paint can't be removed with vinegar, then immediately put 1-1/2 tablespoons of dish soap into a pail filled with warm water. (It is recommended to do this after the vinegar is dry.) Make use of a sponge or a cloth to scrub the area back and forth in a circular motion. In some instances, it may suffice to completely remove the paint off your windows.
If there are still paint marks on the surface, you can use a shaver to clean them away. Select a new razor -- old or dull ones need greater force and are more likely to scratch. The razor should be at an angle of 45 degrees, and gently scrape only in one direction. Slowly work, trying to bring the razor's edge fully beneath the edge of the splotch of paint. Keep rewetting the spots of paint with soapy water in order to keep the razor clean and reduce the chance of scratching.
After the paint is gone, spray the glass with window cleaner and then wipe dry with a newspaper or a towel.
